Apparently the famous French painter, Renoir, suffered from painful arthritis in his older years and his friend, Matisse, asked him why he still painted when he was in so much pain to which Renoir replied:
"The pain passes ... but the beauty remains."
And so it is with those whose lives are committed to God. The pains of this life will pass ... but the beauty of their person will remain forever.
